How to Become an NCGA Member

There are three ways to become a member of the Northern California Golf Association. First, golfers can join a regular club, usually at a golf course where they play most of their golf. A regular club can be private, semi-private, public or military.

Second, golfers can join an established associate club, provided that person meets the qualifications, such as a reasonable and regular opportunity to play golf with that club.

Third, golfers can form their own associate club. What is an associate club?

a--The applicant golf group must have at least 30 active members;

b--All members of the associate member group must be members of the NCGA through that group. 100% membership with the NCGA is required;

c--The applicant golf group must have a written set of by-laws, constitution or written policy and procedure manual that governs it activities; d--The committees operating under the by-laws shall supervise golf activities and maintain the integrity of the NCGA/USGA handicap system;

e--Club members must have a reasonable and regular opportunity to play golf with one another;

f--The applicant club must be an established golf club that has been in operation for at least one year. This can be waived by the NCGA Board of Directors if the club meets all other requirements, and if it is determined that by establishing such a club it would not be detrimental to golf clubs that already belong to the NCGA.
